Turkey Military Coup

Background
Early this morning, armed forces seized control of Turkish government buildings and state broadcasters. Shortly afterwards, the military declared martial law throughout the country and all airports were closed.

Current Situation
The situation is very fluid and changing rapidly. There have been reports of gunfire and large scale military operations in the streets. Martial law has been declared, with the military advising everyone to remain in their homes.
If you are in Turkey, we recommend that you stay indoors and avoid large gatherings. You should pay close attention to local media and follow any and all instructions provided by local authorities; contact your travel services provider if you are due to travel soon.
Policy Coverage
Military insurrection is a general exclusion on all our policies therefore claims for any costs (including medical costs) incurred as a result of these events are excluded.
General exclusions
We will not pay for:
"...Claims arising as a result of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power..."
If you are due to depart Australia for Turkey, we recommend that you contact you airline as soon as possible to ascertain whether your travel plans are affected.
